LATEST UPDATE – 24/03/2020Dear all  We hope you are all well.  Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening (23 March), the LTA has advised that all tennis facilities and courts should now be closed, and tennis coaching and activity should be put on hold with immediate effect. You can read the full update and advice here: https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-venues/.  We therefore have no choice but to take both our clubhouse and courts out of action.  The clubhouse will remain closed and the courts will be padlocked from today (Wednesday 25th March).  As we have as said previously, we will aim to get you all back on court as soon as is possible.  In the meantime please keep you and your loved ones safe and well.  We very much look forward to seeing you at the club as soon as possible.  Kind Regards  The Executive Committee UPDATED ON 22/03/2020Dear Members,

It is with sadness that we will have to shut the club house facilities until further notice. The courts will still be available for members to access and play, using the advice found below including:
Activity should take place in line with the Government’s advised social distancing measures at all times (2-metre distance when talking to someone – see additional details in links below). No more than 4 people on court at any one time.Players are advised not to change ends during play.No physical contact between players or coaches.
This decision has been taken after the latest advise from the LTA which you can view here:
https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-venues/

General advise on the unfolding situation is available here:

The coaches will still be conducting sessions using the guidelines below:

The defibrillator and first aid supplies will only be available during coaching sessions.

The club recognises that some members may be suffering financial hardship as a result of the current situation and at the same time it is inevitable the club will suffer a loss of income. The Executive Committee will be investigating all avenues in terms of financial support and cost savings for the club at this time. The club relies on subscriptions to maintain our facilities and wherever possible, we would ask that members support the club by renewing their membership by 31st of March. The Executive Committee acknowledges that we are unable to continue to offer our full range of facilities. With this in mind, we will be reviewing membership once the facility has been reopened.

Your understanding and cooperation would be very much appreciated during this challenging time. We love our club and tennis community and will do our very best to get back to normal as soon as possible.

Stay safe and well everyone.

Very best wishes from The Executive Committee

Please see below the latest advice from the LTA regarding the Coronavirus (Covid-19) published on 12/3/20.

The latest Government guidance and information regarding the coronavirus can be found via the following link:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
The LTA is in communication with the Government and other relevant organisations regarding the coronavirus, and has been advised there is presently no reason people should stop doing their daily sport and physical activities as they normally would.  This applies to tennis, and so tennis activities in Britain can continue as normal.  Should that position change or further advice and guidance be provided then this page will be updated.

Preventing the spread of Covid-19
As with any other illness, all those involved in tennis in Britain are encouraged to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and avoid catching it by following Public Health England and NHS guidance.  Information on how to do this is provided on the NHS.UK website, with additional information available on the Public Health England blog.
For organisations offering community and leisure services, the Government has advised that hand hygiene should be strongly promoted and encouraged, and equipment and facilities should be thoroughly cleaned and wiped down as usual following use. Materials including posters for Public Health England’s campaign to help stop the spread of viruses can be downloaded from their resources website.
Anyone who has been advised to self-isolate or stay at home based on the advice on the NHS.UK website should clearly not therefore take part in tennis activities or visit their tennis club for the duration of the specified period. We also recommend not shaking hands at the end of a match.

At this point we have not been advised of any cancellation of LTA competitions we are involved in and our internal tennis competitions are continuing, including our Club Closed Kick Off Day on the 29th.  This is a fast moving situation but we will be monitoring the situation carefully and will update you as we get further advise and information.  We will get back to you early next week regarding the quiz night which is due to take place on Saturday 21st March.
Kind Regards
Executive Committee
