What’s been going on…

Last Sunday some club members were treated to a brilliant morning with Andy Knibbs delivering a course on “The Inner Game Mindset”. A fun and fascinating course exploring methods and techniques to quieten your mind and allow your inner self space to command your game.
Just watch out if you’re taking on any of the attendees in the near future – they’ll be awesome!
Andy is also available for individual lessons.

Handicap Tournament entry forms are now available in the clubhouse. Deadline for entry is Sunday 9th July, finals day is Sunday 15th October.

Club Closed Tournament matches are all underway, for both the main draw and the plate. Please don’t forget that the semi-finals play by date this year is SUNDAY 16th JULY (the week before Finals day). As usual, no extensions will be given for matches, so please do get your matches in before the EOD on the 16th July. Please also note, that finalists should make themselves available for the whole of Finals day. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to schedule matches throughout the day (that may not be at the times usually expected). The Tournament Committee plan to release the match schedule as soon as possible ahead of Finals Day.
To give members maximum opportunity to play their Club Closed matches by the “Play by Date”, if needed, members can book courts via Clubspark by contacting the relevant admin personnel with access, this includes James Droy, Oliver Cawley & Rob Munns

Member’s Blog – Check out our most recent blog star, Tup Dutta, who shared some very interesting facts and photos about his tennis journey!

Sun Umbrellas – As the weather is getting hotter and hotter, the club has invested in some new sun umbrellas for the seating area on the patio. We’d like to try and keep them undamaged for as long as possible, so can we ask that when they’re not being used, please can they be tied back with the bungee’s supplied around each of them. This should hopefully stop the wind from catching and ruining them. Thanks for your help.

Ladies’ and Men’s Toilet Decoration – Hopefully you’ll have noticed that we’ve started decorating out both the ladies and men’s toilets. We’ve gone for white with a hint of the new Leverstock Green ‘green.’ We’re hoping to follow this green theme on all our future new projects, to try and make the club as welcoming and nice as we can for everyone. We’ll be arranging a painting working party shortly to try and finish things of a bit- so get your paint brushes on standby!

New Pool Table in the Clubhouse – A massive thank you to Gavin Beale for arranging the donation of a very nice slate based pool table for our main club house area. It blends in perfectly with the rest of the furniture and has got a table cover so it can be hidden away when not being used. All you misspent youth pool players and novices alike get ready- because we feel that a pool league would be a great idea! Any takers for organising that??

Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening Social Tennis are each attracting plenty of players. If you are available and fancy a hit just turn up to play. Sunday runs 10am-12noon, Wednesday from 6pm.

Club Open Day – Sunday 9th July
Our next Open Day is on 9th July. Growing the membership is what keeps our club running and so it would be fantastic if you could all spread the word amongst your non-member friends. Just drag anyone along!
10am – 12pm is the adult session and 1pm – 2.30pm is the Junior session, but there’ll be people here all day to hit with or discuss membership options.

Massive 40% discount to those who join on the day.

Members’ Meeting – Monday 17th July 7:30pm
All members will have received a separate email with a detailed notice about this meeting. It is also published on the website, see this link. Please make every effort to attend.
LGLTC 2023 AGM – Wednesday 11th October

The club’s AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Wednesday 11th October. Please put this date in your diaries, more details to follow in due course.

Other Dates for your diary…
After the success of the previous Junior Night Pizza Party it is to be repeated on Friday 14th July. 6pm – 8pm. Treat the kids to tennis, games and fun, and of course, pizza, and treat yourselves to a night off! In the meantime, our regular Junior Night is on each Friday 6-8pm. Still brilliant fun – no added pizza!

And keep your eyes peeled for news of our end of summer party night for the Juniors (but we don’t want to talk about the end of summer just yet!!)

Other Dates for your diary…
Wimbledon Men’s Finals Day, Sunday 16th July:  from 3pm. Tea and top tennis… Wimbledon Men’s Final and a cream tea… what could be better? Maybe add a glass of prosecco?

Join us to watch the final and get fed too… For just £8 we are offering a selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes. For catering purposes, we need to know you are coming along so simply join up on the form on the social noticeboard or contact us on [email protected].
